Component Reconditioning

Reconditioning of Diesel Engine Components

For Maritime, Energy, and Industrial Applications

At Twinco, the reconditioning and repair of diesel engine components have been a cornerstone of our operations since the beginning. In our 4,000 m² workshop in Hamburg—strategically located between the city center and the port—we recondition four-stroke engine components from nearly all major manufacturers, including MAN, Wärtsilä, Himsen, Sulzer, Mak, Pielstick, Yanmar, Daihatsu, Deutz, Scania, and Mitsubishi.

Marine Engines Are Our Passion

We are committed to precision, quality, reliability, and on-time delivery—core values that drive our long-standing reputation in the maritime and shipbuilding industries. Whether it’s cylinder liners, pistons, cylinder heads, connecting rods, or other key components, we recondition each part to original manufacturer specifications—with guaranteed results.

Honing of Engine Components, Compressors, and Hydraulic Cylinders

Honing is critical to restoring the function and performance of marine engine components. Every part undergoes a rigorous process:

  • Cylinder Liners: Checked for cracks (especially at the flange), machined as required, then honed to restore surface roughness (Ra, Rz) and crosshatch angle.
  • Honing Equipment: We operate three dedicated honing machines to suit various liner sizes.
  • Measurement Protocol: Post-honing, detailed measurement records are generated for quality assurance.
  • Restoring Components to Manufacturer Standards
  • Pistons: We inspect ring grooves, check shoulder play, and re-machine where necessary.
  • Cylinder Heads: Fully disassembled on-site; valves, seats, and guides are measured and reconditioned using Chris-Marine and Hunger equipment. Valve seating surfaces are crack-tested and pressure-tested (10 bar at 60 °C). Valve guides are replaced using an in-house hydraulic press.
  • Connecting Rods: Inspected for cracks and wear. Serrations and bores are restored or rebuilt as needed. Wärtsilä 20 and 32 rods with cross-cut serrations are skimmed. Damaged small-end bushes are replaced using cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) shrink-fit methods. Big-end bolts are replaced as standard.
  • Testing • Reconditioning • Precision Repairs: From initial inspection to final pressure testing, our focus remains on delivering OEM-standard quality with every reconditioned component.
